Why DNSSEC Matters
The DNS is what your browser uses to translate domain names like “example.com” into IP addresses like “192.0.0.1”. However, the traditional DNS was not designed with security as a priority, which makes it vulnerable to attacks such as DNS spoofing or cache poisoning, where an attacker injects false DNS data to redirect users to malicious sites.
What DNSSEC Does
DNSSEC adds cryptographic signatures to DNS records. When your computer queries a DNSSEC-enabled domain, it can verify that the response came from a legitimate source and that the data wasn’t altered in transit.
